Dave Smith Instruments and Roger Linn Designs have officially announced their new drum-machine the LinnDrum II. The new drum-machine will come in two versions; a digital version sold by Roger Linn Designs and an analog version with an additional four voice synth sold by Dave Smith Instruments.

Thanks for the comments and emails. I finally decided...Live is the only DAW I use, ever! But it really doesnt matter that these...I use Ableton Live for this sort of thing. Anyone else a Live fan?...35 years, and the best they can do is upgrade the wiring, put better LEDs...read more

When I first heard about Dave Smith and Roger Linn's collaboration I was pretty excited to see what they would come up with. I was hopeful they'd make a unique and straightforward product like the Poly Evolver, but after looking at the initial specs, this may be a bit over engineered. Looking forward to some demos.
I think the article has some details wrong too: Both versions are identical. The Dave Smith version ADDS 4 additional analog voices, it does not replace the sample playback section.
